The ESC1 alters the signal from narrowband oxygen sensors under boost conditions. It may be used in either single or dual EGO sensor applications. Under vacuum conditions it outputs a signal which is identical to the EGO signals that appear at the input. Under boost, it outputs an internally generated dither signal (cycling pattern) to defeat adaptation by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).

The ESC1 is a first generation unit. For most applications the Enricher will provide superior performance.
