Racing

Throughout the company’s history, Split Second has been involved in tuning race cars.  Racing is a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t.  We make every effort to take what we learn from racing and apply it to our product development. Many of the fault-tolerant protection features that are designed into our products have been proven through the rigors of racing.  Of course the idea of racing is to win.  We have been fortunate to work on a wide variety of race cars and several winning race programs.

Mickey Miller’s DM Championship winning E30 M3

Split Second would like to congratulate Mickey Miller for winning the 2007 National Championship in the DM class in BMWCCA club racing.  He runs an S14 powered E30 M3 with Split Second MAF conversion.  Split Second is responsible for the custom MAF sensor and electronics as well as the engine dyno tuning.  You can read more about Mickey’s car in the Project Car section.  Here are a few photos of Mickey’s car.  The first row is from Phoenix International Raceway on September 23, 2007.  The second row is from Ofest at Motorsport Ranch onside of Dallas on September 30, 2007.  Mickey took the overall win in both sprint races at Ofest.

Split Second was honored to be a part of Brett Strom’s Nitto Tire/Diffsonline race team for the 2007 NASA 25 hr endurance race at Thunderhill Raceway.  The team ran a nearly flawless race and took the win in the E0 Class.  The car was prepared by Bullet Performance and tuned by Split Second.  The driver lineup consisted of Brett Strom, Mickey Miller, Travis Weltzien, Ralph Warren and Marc Ghafouri.  Here are a few photos from that memorable event.
